to stripes, consider updating your down comforter with one of our fabulous ticking duvet

ecru matelasse or quilt, vintage embroidered pillow cases and you have the perfect cottage
bedroom with layering options as the summer months draw near.

Five Easy Ways to Decorate With Ticking

Did you know the effortless style of ticking fabric is one of today's hottest trends in
home decor and decorating? The timeless ticking stripe is one of my favorite fabrics and can be
incorporated in numerous ways around the home in ticking stripe bedding, lamps and even
shower curtains.

Here are our 5 top ways to decorate with ticking:

 1. Upholstering Lampshades

Pick up an inexpensive drum style lamp shade and re-make an entire lamp. Run the

ticking stripe fabric along the horizontal rather than vertical for a more modern spin on

decorating with ticking stripe fabric. Simply utilize the shade as a pattern, leaving an

allowance around the edge of the lampshade. Then spray mount both the shade and even

the back of the fabric per the manufacturer's instructions, working from the center of the

shade to the outer edges. Smoothing any wrinkles or air bubbles, wrap and affix the raw

edge of the fabric around the frame of the lamp.

You can even add a bit of decorative trim such as woven cotton twill or bias tape in a

contrasting color around the edge of the lampshade to add the finishing touch to your

ticking stripe lampshade.

2. Bathroom Accents

Our ticking stripe shower curtains are the perfect nautical and cottage home decor accent

to completely redecorate your bath in a day. Sometimes it is the simple things that create

the biggest impact. If your bathroom is a sea of white, or you are dealing with dated bath

surroundings, make a simple improvement to maximize your decorating dollars. I love

how our classic ticking stripe shower curtains create the look and feel of a historic

bathroom at a minimal investment. Simply add one of our standard ticking stripe shower

curtains with grommets, a new 12 pack of chrome roller ball style shower curtain rings or

even a new shiny curtain rod.

Consider adding a simple valance or cafe curtain created with an extra yard of ticking

fabric (ours is available in cut yardage to match, and could even be fashioned with fusible

tape and a warm iron). Add a few new fluffy bath towels and a vintage julep cup for

toothbrushes and you've created a simple vintage inspired bathroom worthy of any beach

cottage!

3. Instant Cottage Bedroom

If you are looking for a touch of ticking in your bedroom but don't want to fully commit

to stripes, consider updating your down comforter with one of our fabulous ticking duvet

covers available stocked in our dark blue classic ticking or our classic black and white

ticking. Ours come furnished with an easy to use zipper at the foot of the duvet so you

literally unbox your order and have a new look. Layer this piece with a simple white or

ecru matelasse, vintage embroidered pillow cases and you have the perfect cottage

bedroom with layering options as the summer months draw near.

4. Perfect Pooch Perch

A king pillow sham becomes the perfect small to medium sized pooch perch. Our king

pillow sham or even our euro square sham is perfectly tailored for the job with minimal

investments! Our pillow shams come with a hidden zipper and reverse to the same stripe.

We have a wonderful bias stripe welt that runs along the perimeter. Our 5 year old black

and tan Dachshund, Sutter, convinced me to add this one in!

5. Flatwoven Flooring

Consider a large scale ticking inspired area rug in a flatwoven wool, all weather

polypropylene or cotton, so popular this season and available at every price point. My

favorite combinations are black and tan, and of course the ever popular navy and cream

combination that would look fabulous with some of our ticking stripe pillows...just cover

the ones you have with our fabulous 18x18 covers and enjoy the rest of spring!
